Savuti / Linyanti area, Duma Tau Camp
The big cats made themselves scarce during my stay despite long periods spent looking for them. We had more success with a pack of wild dogs , a spotted hyaena and a large troop of baboons. However driving through the wetlands reveals may beautiful sights. Sometimes it’s hippos in a pool, red lechwe wading through the river’s shallows, or elephants in the marsh – whilst all around water-lilies bloom and birds call. The African openbill and the jacana can be seen foraging along the banks. Jacana with their large feet use the water-lily leaves or even the hippos as support to reach deeper water.
