The route to the first lodge was quite scenic driving over a pass at 2,200 m. The country is very green still with lots of forest and large trees even in more cultivated areas. <\/span>The driver <\/span>stopped <\/span>for me <\/span>to view two impressive waterfalls <\/span>and have<\/span> a coffee <\/span>in a restaurant <\/span>at the second one. There I first saw <\/span>a<\/span> banana bird feeder <\/span>visited by<\/span> many <\/span>colourful<\/span> birds including a<\/span>emerald <\/span>green <\/span>toucan<\/span>et<\/span> and some <\/span>blue-chested <\/span>humming birds. It is relatively easy <\/span>at such bird feeders to have good close-up views<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Th<\/span>e Ara <\/span>Ambigua<\/span> lodge is attractively set at the edge of the <\/span>forest <\/span>about<\/span> one kilometer from the main road. The <\/span>rooms <\/span>are laid out <\/span>in short rows surrounded by lots of flowering tropical plants<\/span> and there is a swimming pool at the upper end of the grounds. <\/span>As at the stop by the waterfall <\/span>a bird feeder provide<\/span>d<\/span> the best photographic op<\/span>portunities with: Silver throated Tanager, Black and yellow Tanager (female), Blue-grey Tanager, Clay-<\/span>coloured<\/span> Thrush, Black-<\/span>thighed<\/span> Grosbeak and Great <\/span>Kishadee<\/span>.
