My journey by small plane took me to the central and Northern parts of Western Namibia, starting and ending in the capital, Windhoek. I was first in the Namib desert at Sossusvlei and Swakopmund, then travelling via Damaraland to the Kunene river on the Angolan border. The final stop was at the Ongava game reserve next to the Etosha national park. Again as in Botswana it was the so called green season and it had rained in places causing plants to become green, but I did not experience any myself except on arrival, although I did once see a rainbow and lightening in the distance. It was less of a safari than in Botswana, there being far less wild life to see but much more scenic landscape. The standard of the lodges was comparable with those in Botswana and the staff equally efficient and helpful, providing entertainment every second or third evening.<\/span><\/p>\n

08.03.14, Windhoek<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I stayed at the Olive Grove Guest House in Windhoek for just one night. The flights went as planned, but were of course not very comfortable. I was travelling for 24 hours including the 4 hours in Johannesburg. The Windhoek international airport is quite small and a long way from the capital considering its size. It actually rained a little when I left the airport, but nothing much. I saw a baboon on the way but no cattle or sheep which are also present in the highlands there (1800m as high as the Engadin). The temperatures are higher though. It was 26deg. in my room. I left again the next morning at 8.00 for the domestic airport which is much nearer to the town, so did not see anything much of Windhoek itself.<\/span><\/p>\n
