The afternoon safari was again in the Ongava reserve where a female Kudu was seen quite close and a pair of male lions allowed themselves to be approached by the tourist vehicles. The drive finished in a different part of the reserve where there were larger open areas with a profusion of in yellow flowers. A black-backed jackal was lying in the middle of one of these. I was interested to see a hoopoe because although these colourful birds migrate to Europe they are very rarely spotted here. A final spectacular African sunset and a sundowner drink finished off the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

The view at dawn from the veranda of my lodge was also very beautiful and I had time to enjoy it before packing my bag for my return flight to Windhoek. This was with two other passengers and a young lady pilot who directed me to the co-pilots seat next to her. I had to be careful not to tread on the pedals or move the joystick accidently during the flight! No mishap occurred and we arrived safely in Windhoek after an hour and a half. I had not long to wait for my connection to Johannesburg, but there I again had four hours to occupy.
