Fortunately we had only a grassy walk downhill to the hamlet of Les Chapieux (1554m) in front of us, since we had divided the previous day\u2019s stage into two. As we reached the valley floor the sun appeared but we still took the small bus along a lane in the narrow trench of the Valle\u00e9 des Glaciers in order to arrive at the Refuge des Mottets (1870m) as soon as possible. I stayed at the friendly refuge for a rest afternoon, but the others wanted to take advantage of the somewhat better weather and walk on the opposite side of the valley towards the Refuge Robert Blanc.
