05-04 Puerto Carmen

Donnerstag, 4. Mai 2017, Von Gran Canaria mit der Fluggesellschaft Canaryfly nach Lanzarote

Gran Canaria:

This is our transfer day. As we will leave San Augustin and the Hotel Gloria Palace at 10.55, we have time for a leisurely breakfast – in the sun, in the shade, or indoors – and packing before we assemble in the lobby. An uneventful half-hour ride brings us to the airport. After a prompt check-in, there is enough time hanging out at the airport for a picnic at the gate or lunch elsewhere.

En route:

We embark for the 40-minute flight from Gran Canaria to Lanzarote. Seating is not assigned; you sit where you like. It is an ATR 72 propeller plane. (On the ground, the propeller has to be anchored to the plane body so it doesn’t turn in the breeze). The plane takes off promptly at 12.55. We fly over unknown islands with lovely white sandy beaches and land exactly 45 minutes after take-off. No surprise – because CanaryFly has just won the award for the most punctual airline 2017 (according to OAG Flightview 2017)! From the air one can already see that Lanzarote appears to have no vegetation. There is a chain of craters. The landscape is totally ocher and black, there is no green.

Lanzarote:

At 14.00 the bus takes us to Hotel Seaside James Playa in Puerto del Carmen, with 530 rooms and 1,000 guests. After the welcome drink, the afternoon is devoted to walking and bathing at the beach, or hanging at the swimming pools. It’s nice to live right at the ocean!

Thanks to Adrian, Jorge and Marian for the smooth trip.
