Ascent of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro, Safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro reserves

February/March 2003:
- Arrive JRO airport Flight KL571 21:30hrs and transfer to the Springlands Hotel, near Moshi. Overnight B&B.
- Mount Meru, Taxi to Momella lodge. Overnight Full board accommodation.
- In the morning walk through game filled parkland to Miriakamba Hut, 2470m, escorted by a park ranger and guide.
- Climb steeply through the forests and heather to the Saddle Hut, 3500, 3hrs
- Walk to a viewpoint on the crater rim, and then follow the ridge to the summit. Down to Miriakamba Hut, 9hrs.
- Walk back to the Park Gates and drive to the Springlands Hotel for H/B overnight stay.
- Kilimanjaro Trek
- Drive to Machame village. 1490m. Walk to Machame camp, 2980m, 18km, 7 hours.
- To Shira camp, 3840m, 9km, 6 hours.
- To Barranco camp, 3950m, 15km, 7 hours, via Lava Tower, 4600m.
- To the Karanga Valley, 4000m, via Barranco Wall. Continue out of Karanga Valley to Barafu Hut, 4650m, 13km, 7 hours.
- Start before midnight for Stella Point, 5685m, Summit at Uhuru Peak 5895m and descend to Barafu Hut for a rest and lunch then walk to camp at Mweka Hut, 3100m. 23km, 14 hours.
- Final descent to Park gate, 1980m, 12km, 3 hours, and transfer to Springlands Hotel
- Safari
- Drive from Springlands Hotel, Moshi to Lake Manyara walking to the culture of Mto Wambu. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight standard lodge at Lake Manyara Hotel.
- Drive to Serengeti with picnic lunch on way. Tour. Dinner and overnight standard lodge at either Lobo or Serener lodge
- After breakfast game drive Serengeti. Dinner and overnight standard lodge
- After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro via Olduvai Gorge. Dinner and overnight standard lodge at Ngorongoro wildlife lodge
- After breakfast game drive of Ngorongoro. Dinner and overnight standard lodge
- After breakfast tour and then return to Springlands hotel, Moshi. Overnight B&B.
10.March, Depart for flight. Arranged transport to JRO airport. Flight KL569 departing 22:55hrs.
