Kalahari Plains – Bushman walk
On my last evening I took part in the Bushman walk instead of a safari drive. A young man lead us through the bush and explained various aspects of their traditional hunter and gatherer way of life, which has now almost died out. He dug a scorpion up from its burrow and showed how it could be used as bait for a trap. They are a food of the honey badger which we also saw. He demonstrated his tools and quickly made a fire next to a hut. The walk continued to a meeting point with the other safari groups where a sundowner drink and apero were provided.
