18.01 Bagan 3, Boat trip to Kyaukgu Umin pagoda, sunset at Pyathada pagoda
This was the so-called rest day. There was no morning program but a boat trip in the afternoon.
It was busy for a rest day but it did not start until 11.30. We walked through a market to a nearby restaurant and after lunch to the river bank to board our boat up the river. The trip lasted about one hour as the previous boat trip but where we landed this time was just countryside. We walked again now through open woodland with lots of big exotic trees to Kyaukgu Umin pagoda, which contains an underground monastery hidden within it, no longer used however.
The weather in the afternoon had turned out to be much better than forecast, so we headed again for Pyathada the same look-out pagoda to photograph the sunset as yesterday. The sunset was better but the surrounding pagodas were really too far away.
